VVF Statement on LWCF Funding

VVF Western States Director & Iraq War Veteran, Garett Reppenhagen, stated the following regarding Congress possibly increasing LWCF funding:

“It is encouraging that Congress has recognized the value of the Land and Water Conservation Fund – first by overwhelmingly voting for permanent reauthorization for the program earlier this year and by taking steps again today to increase the amount of funding that it appropriates for LWCF. However, there is still far more work to be done.

LWCF provides critical funding of all kinds for public lands, local parks, community centers and other opportunities for Americans to get outdoors. These investments are crucial for our nation’s returning veterans and help Americans to enjoy the public lands that our nation’s veterans fought so hard to protect.

Congress should pursue full, dedicated funding for this program and in the interim it is critical that the Appropriations Committee continue to make as much funding available for this program as possible.”
